Reception Centre Assistant The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been providing relief, humanitarian and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC seeks to protect refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights in general and to promote long term solutions to the problems of forced displacement. DRC programs include emergency and transitional shelter, livelihoods, food and NFI distribution, water and sanitation, Protection and advocacy amongst others. The Danish Refugee Council works in more than 30 countries throughout the world. In Somalia, DRC has a wide range of programs in Somaliland, Puntland and South Central including emergency response, livelihoods and protection activities.

Purpose: The reception center assistant will assist in the registration of new arrivals

Key Responsibilities

1.Assisting the Berbera Center to receive the people fleeing from Yemen.

2. Ensure that the arrivals are fed three times a day Assisting for doing all documentation of DATA for New arrivals have received Assisting of distributing NFI items and helping wet food distributing for new arrivals at RC Assisting the pre­registration process in coordination with UNHCR field staff and helping TL under the guidance of the center.

3. During the pre­registration conduct a rapid identification of the People with Special Needs (PSN) and refer them to CCBRS Assisting with CCBRS for interviews arrangements by them when identify cases for urgent referral or assistance To collaborate with the RC Team Leader in assisting the new arrivals from Yemen Update DATA on daily and properly making good filing system

Adherence to HAP standards:

Ensure continuous communication to and with beneficiaries in regards to project Implementation, progress, evaluation and impacts of interventions

Ensure beneficiary involvement and participation throughout the project cycle Ensure publicly available information on and explanation of the Compliant Response Mechanism, the Humanitarian Accountability Framework and other Relevant project related information. Reporting: Emergency Team Leader


Essential: University degree in social science, arts or development studies at recognized university Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position with an international organization preferably in Somalia context.

Previous experience of managing and supervising staff Excellent organizational skills, self­ motivated, proactive and able to accomplish set Good organized and people management skills Proven ability to priorities tasks and meet deadlines Good command in spoken and written in English and have idea with Arabi Language Good communication and negotiation skills Very honest and trustworthy person.

Excellent computer skills – especially Excel spreadsheets and able to work with Formulas, Power Point and Word.
